Each Carbonio system is produced by hand utilising carbon fibre manufacturing techniques usually reserved for Formula 1 and the aerospace industries.

Carbon fibre's unparalleled ability to insulate against heat, its high strength to weigh ratio and its unique aesthetics have allowed Carbonio to create induction systems that not only perform but also look the part.

The Carbonio system is designed to maximize the torque produced by your engine. The natural extension of increased torque is an increase in horsepower (hp). While the hp gain is nice, this system's tuned shape will give you that increased hp for a longer period of time, thereby allowing you to make better use of each and every gear. This is a consequence of an increase in torque for over 10% of the rev range; torque comes in sooner and tails off later. Compared to the stock intake, our kit shows increased flow numbers of around 40-50%. More interesting is the velocity at which the airflow in the system changes. Our system is much more dynamic than the stock system, and thanks to a specially textured inlet surface, results in a much better throttle response. In the case of the 1.8T engine, a significant reduction in turbo 'lag'.

Carbonio selected carbon fiber as the material for their engine covers due to several unique characteristics of the material.

Carbon fiber is versitile in its ability to be manufactured in any shape, curve, or contour possible. Carbon fiber is also extremely strong and light. It weighs half as much as aluminum, but is twice as strong as steel. Because of these characteristics, carbon fiber is used widely in motorsports around the world. It also happens to look great on any street car.

Carbon fiber has a low thermal conductivity. Basically, unlike any metal or plastic, carbon fiber prevents heat tranfer. The stock coilpacks are prone to failure, especially if they get too hot. To deal with this, Carbonio has CNC'ed slots into the cover to prevent heat buildup under the cover, and allow proper cooling to the engine.

Carbonio Carbon Fiber Engine Covers are available for most 1.8T VW Engines.
