Mk3 Golf GTI 16v Project Car...
|
The Mk3 when we started:
Fitting the smoked twin headlamps - Very simple self fit, only requires 8mm socket, small flat screwdriver and philips screwdriver. You'll need to adjust the beam pattern for right hand drive - this is done by undoing 3 philips screws and rotating dip beam unit to face LHT on light unit, could do with heights checking against MOT beam tester:
Clear tail lamps - Very simple self fit, only requires 8mm socket, just undo three 8mm nuts to remove old unit then replace with new unit, finally check all lights remain working:
Suspension before and after a suspension kit - Once the suspension kit is fitted, a geo to set camber and track is highly recommended to get the correct performance from the kit. Result: A vast improvement over standard - car handles superb !
Eibach anti roll bars - The Eibach anti roll bars fit really well, could be self fitted but would require facilities of a ramp, once fitted they do not require any further setting.
Result: A road test reveals a vastly superior road drive, this compliments a suspension kit and gives an
unbelievable cornering ride:
D&W Race 300mm steering wheel - Easy self fit, tip - centre original steering wheel before removal and refit new wheel without having to road test and re-align. Labour to fit £10+VAT
Result: Feels better to drive with, but for taller drivers could impair vision of clocks:
Leather interior obtained from a highline via the breaker network, fitted as a direct replacement - cost approx £1000. Full re-trim of your own interior to this standard would cost approx £1100+VAT (see us for undertaking this work) :
Black VW badges front & rear (£7.50+VAT each), very simple and inexpensive modification. The Mk3 requires front grille to be removed to replace badge and the rear badge is self adhesive:
